Abstract A hydraulic-stepped spillway was designed using an aeration basin to provide aerated flow the stepped utilizing a hydraulic jump. However, through entrance of might separate from first step top and impact downstream steps at large unit discharge, causing so-called jet flow. new experimental study conducted better understand in hydraulic-jump-stepped with comparisons conventional spillways. The results showed that critical condition required for formation close geometric parameters upstream basin. Among these parameters, height reverse had more significant effect on local pattern, thus lowering risk relationships between geometry suggested Froude number key parameter forming Compared spillways, could effectively extend practical application discharges by providing understanding conditions.
